Moving Servers PDF Print E-mail

Yesterday I signed with a new Server Host company; SiteGround.  They had a great introductory offer that just couldn't be beat.  They are offering one year of hosting for $20.10. The only downside is their URL costs are 50% higher than Bluehost, my previous host.  I have no complaints about Bluehost, it was a simple matter of economics; and in this time of frugleness, I believe it was a wise decision.  I'll keep it posted as to how the hosting goes.

Good afternoon, the redesign of the Knights of Columbus website is pretty much a done deal.  I have a few wrinkles to iron out; but it looks pretty good and is now live.

The other good news related to this site is: What you are looking at now is also live -- redirect link installed to take the view directly here.

Website is almost up and .... stumbling PDF Print E-mail

Good afternoon all; The website is finished enough to go live.  Thanks for everyone's patience during the past few weeks (months).  Our sister sight has been up and running for a few months now, and is looking good.  I wish it would drum up more business; but all good things in time.

So; what is in the hopper?  I'm glad you asked, in my "TO DO" roll I have to set up a registered user area -- this area will mainly be for my family and friends to view pictures and the like -- it's not that I don't want to share with everyone; but hey, there are some real freaks out there and I don't want / need my family exposed to folks like that.

Also in the hopper is to convert my current blog to the same format as the rest of the site -- what do you think?  Leave your comments if you'd like on my blog. I'm not for sure yet on moving this to my regular site; as wordpress has soom good anti-spam measure built into it; once again I read each and every comment on my blog, and if I feel it may be spam -- deleted!

Have a good day, and I'll see y'all around the neighborhood.

Site Re-work PDF Print E-mail

Good afternoon!  I hope this finds everyone well.  If you are following my site; you may have noticed that there has been very little accomplished since February.  This is because I was sidetracked with work (imagine that - I have to make a living) and working on two other sites (www.tidewaternotary.com and www.saintlukecc.com).  Our church site wanted a complete redesign and there were some issues that took some time to work out.  IE and css do not always play well together!  I think both sites turned out very nicely however.

Also; a friend of mine told me about Joomla!  Hadn't heard or used it at all; so decided to check it out and see if it would make my life easier.  There has been a sort of steep learning curve; but as you can see it is coming along.  I hope to have it live next week sometime.

Take care, and I'll see y'all around the neighborhood.

What this site is about PDF Print E-mail
Written by Dan R.

As you may have noticed, the url of this site is "www.vagreen.net", but the title is "Dan's Digital Dive".  Why is that?

3/15/2010 update: I've given up!  I have had more than a few hurdles trying to move my sites to SiteGround.  Hence this update, if anyone is attempting to utilize their services, I highly recommend you look elsewhere, I have decided to stay with BlueHost, while more expensive than a discount provider, they are really top notch.
1/7/2010 update: I just reclaimed "dansdigitaldive.com" domain name, and the site will be renamed and redirected within the week.

The answer, quite simply is a business idea gone amuck. A gentleman approached me to design him a website and after I produced it in accordance with his guidelines, he disappeared. I promplty removed his domain. All in all, while I lost a few hundred dollars (business license, software & webspace) it was a good learning experience. The website is a useful end to a project gone astray.  I renamed the domain to VaGreen.net and I was going to document my attempt at becoming more energy efficient.  The web page didn't quite turn out the way I wanted, so I decided on the blog look; and that has worked out well.  I still had this URL, so I decided to create a "playground" if you will to test my theories and projects.

This site is simply as it sounds; a place for me to play and pass information along that I (not neccessarily you) find useful and informative for my family and friends. I hope you enjoy it as I screw around. From time to time I'll place what I think are some pretty cool links in the "COOL STUFF" menu for everyone to enjoy.

The Cool Stuff menu is a menu of current links that I am finding useful/curious about.  There will also be a link to a project or two that I am working on.
